When should I give dog my dog high fiber foods?

If your dog suffers from obesity, constipation or diabetes, you can choose to feed dog food high protein content. However, before turning to a diet specialist like that, I advise you to talk about it to the veterinarian of your first dog.

Obesity

A high fiber diet is beneficial when your dog is overweight, such as fibre-rich foods are generally lower in calories. By eating foods rich in fiber, your dog will be feel fuller faster and take fewer calories, so losing weight.

Constipation

If your dog is constipated, temporarily placing on a high fiber diet will help in getting this working smoothly again.

Diabetes

A diet that is rich in fibres will greatly stabilize sugar levels in the blood of an animal who has diabetes, making it easier to manage the disease.

Sources of fiber

The way the easiest source of fibre is to buy a high fibre organic dog food. Be certain that you choose a brand of high quality, as cheaper pet foods do not contain nutrients your dog needs, and that the nutrients that they contain, are often of low quality and gets labelled ingredients as unfit for human consumption. However, be warned that fibres dog food best quality can be quite expensive.

If you cannot afford to buy food commercial dog high fiber, or can not find one that you trust, you always have the possibility to create your own dog food. Consult your veterinarian before taking this step and do research to find recipes. Do not try to create your own food without a recipe, such as certain foods that eat humans on a daily basis can be toxic to your pet.

Many people believe that making your own food for pets is a long process and therefore assume that they do not have the time to do every day, but there are many recipes that produce more than one part, and you can store the food for a few weeks. This means that you have to spend a few hours every weekend preparing food for your pet.

Fibre-rich foods

Here are some of the foods which are rich in fibre and safe for consumption of pet:

1. Tomatoes and Apple pomace

2 Sugar beet pulp

3 Citrus pulp

4 Oat bran

5 Rice

6 Rice bran

7 Soybean hulls

8 Wheat

Don't forget that, in a change in your dog food, it is preferable to do so gradually as a change suddenly in the diet can be very shocking on the dog digestive system.
